Psalm 66:1 Make a joyful noise to God, all the earth! The author of Psalm 66 is unknown. Also unknown is the time of it's writing. It is apparent when reading the 66th chapter in it's entirety that God had allowed His people to experience a trial and refining process by which an enemy had afflicted them for a time. The psalmist speaks to having petitioned God in prayer for deliverance from this enemy and is elated that God not only delivers them but brings them into a place of abundance. Repeatedly throughout the Psalm the author calls for all the nations to come hear what God had done for them and to take part in praises to God. Even though the nations that were invited to join in the worship (praise) had not endured the tribulation that Gods people had gone through, they nevertheless had much to praise God for, as we do also. The psalmist records a few of the reasons we have that would cause us to want to Make a joyful noise to God... Gods awesome works and deeds to the sons of men. Gods might rules forever. He keeps watch on the nations and He does not let the rebellious exalt themselves. He keeps us in life and does not let our feet slip. He refines us as silver is refined (by fire, trial) that we may be conformed to the image of Christ and used for His purpose. He gives heed to our prayers and He does not turn His lovingkindness from us. God gave us the voice's that we have and He is well pleased when we lift them up and sing His praises. Our ability to carry a tune may sound like "noise" to each other but it is music to our Lord, Who see's the "joyful" heart. So go ahead, tell God today how much you love Him and Make a joyful noise to God, all the earth; Sing the glory of His name; Make His praise glorious. (Psa 66:1-2)
To God be the glory
